Harsens Island at the Tashmoo Marina - July 7, 2018
A great time for going with the flow in the gentle waters of the Saint Clair River on Harsens Island. Some of the coolest stuff to find is right in this area.  Imagine searching through a submerged antique store for that elusive artifact.   Hundreds of bottles, an occasional coin or antique luggage tag can be found.  Enjoy a nice relaxing day on the river…….

St. Clair River at the Blue Water Bridge  July 8, 2018
This is the site of our original St. Clair River drift; back-in-the-day….  Before the impressive, elegant Thomas Edison Inn (an English Tudor style hotel located on the banks of the St. Clair River and beneath the majestic double arches of the Blue Water Bridge) it was just a field with mounds of soil & gravel.

And the important red & white signal marker indicating when the River Piolets need to execute their 750 – 100 ft. Lake Freighter toward the tight turn just ½ mile south of the Blue Water Bridge.  Most made it – but a few misfortunes happened over the years.  The remains of these mishaps still lay along the 70 foot river bottom.  Two centuries before scuba divers – Fort Gratiot guarded entry to the St. Clair River.

Today the underwater drift is just as fast and unforgiving.  One must keep a tight dive plan while enjoying the unique underwater back wash.  You will start your dive drifting South – down river in deeper water and then as you make your way towards shore, you will find yourself heading North (upstream).  One can repeat this cycle again and again.  Just head to deeper water and then once again make your way to shore and you will find yourself once again heading North.

Sounds like a lot of great fun, especially if you are lucky enough to recover a cannon ball from the days of Fort Gratiot.

This  is a definite Advanced River Dive.  All experienced River Divers are welcome.

Meet at 9:00 am in the parking lot under the shadow of the Blue Water Bridge.

Pre registration for either or both days no later than June 27, 2018.  Registration fee $15.00.
