Lighting Systems
Halcyon
offers a primary light for every dive. The
Explorer
line
is the latest evolution of their exploration-grade
primary lighting. The Explorer's DNA can be traced back
eight years through the original Explorer Pro 14:
certainly one of the most trusted dive lights ever made.
From the rock-solid battery pack and the water-tight lid
to the superior flicker-free performance of the HID
light element, the Explorer again sets the standard
against which other lights will be judged.
The
Explorer 4.5 is not much larger than a D-cell
flashlight, and the Apollo 200w HMI underwater studio
light is now driven by a canister only slightly larger
than our Proteus 6. The Explorer 13 has been fitted with
a new 10w HID light head at the request of explorers
pushing the limits of cave exploration in Mexico.
The stronger-than-steel Delrin canisters are a work of
art; although Halcyon rates the lights to five hundred
feet/152 meters, the canister itself has a theoretical
depth rating of several thousand feet.
Proteus Lighting Systems
 For
divers who want a traditional sealed lead acid battery
design, Halcyon now offers both the
Proteus 3
and Proteus 6 canister lights.
Designed as an entry level 10w HID system (with either
the fixed beam or focusable 10w light heads), the
Proteus 3 provides a generous two hour burn time with a
slim form factor. The Proteus 6 lights are available
with multiple lamp configurations, but with the 18w HID
it burns for two hours and is the most affordable high
performance cave and wreck system. Proteus canisters are
milled to exacting tolerances from a new high
performance plastic that allows Halcyon to eliminate the
bulkhead on the battery pack.

Goodman handle-based lightheads are available with
optional exploration handles. The exploration handle
includes a thumb-holder for use while scootering and a
handle-mounted mini-knife.
18 watt HID Lighthead
Halcyon's workhorse light, the 18watt HID, allows full
adjustability and easy bulb changes in a conventional
test tube style design. Light output is similar to a
75watt halogen light at a fraction of the power
consumption.
Halcyon has been focused on designing, testing, and
building the optimal reflector over the last year. Their
goal has been to create the brightest, tightest spot
while utilizing materials and finishes that will stand
up to years of immersion in abusive marine environments.
10 watt HID Lightheads
Where innovation meets practicality. Halcyon's
fully
closed light head (patent pending)
provides divers with a nearly indestructible light head
that is able to be adjusted from a laser-like beam to a
diffuse soft light with the mere twist of a dial.
If
you want the power of a 10w light but in a very rugged
and compact package, consider Halcyon's fixed-beam 10w
option. The fixed-beam light is designed around an MR-11
HID bulb that burns bright and white with a six-degree
spot.
Halcyon Back Up Lights
LED Scout
and Mini Scout Lights
The
new LED Scouts provide the light output to equal or
surpass the traditional Scout with a tightly-focused
beam. You'll find the same Scout reliability, but with a
bright white beam that has all of the benefits you want
from an LED bulb. Halcyon's unique LED assembly can be
driven by both 2-cell and 3-cell battery configurations.
The LED Mini-Scout provides an astounding 7 hour burn
time; the 3-cell Scout provides approximately 30%
brighter output, with a burn time of 5 hours. At
the core of its LED system, Halcyon uses a completely
sealed bulb and ballast. While other manufacturers uses
LED bulbs with exposed circuitry that will be damaged by
exposure to moisture, the Halcyon LED assembly is sealed
to provide maximum protection against the environment.
Not only is the unit sealed against the elements, its
bulb is rated for 10,000 hours of continuous use.
Halcyon Scout LED Upgrade Kit
Halcyon LED Replacement Assembly LED bulbs are
revolutionary in their ability to withstand shock and
emit a strong light source with minimal power drain
(about five times the time of a halogen bulb)They have a
remarkable lifetime, lasting more than ten years while
burning continuously.
However, most LED lights are ineffective at projecting
the light over a distance sufficient to make them useful
while diving. Halcyon’s high power LED bulb provides as
much light as 10 common LEDs. The patent-pending design
directs the light so that it can be projected by the
reflector in a tightly focused beam. The Halcyon LED
replacement module will fit all existing Scout lights as
well as the 2 cell Mini-Scout.
